The Minibus Knowledge of Passenger Safety is a challenge of your personal knowledge regarding the laws and regulations surrounding the carriage of passengers and their safety when travelling in a minibus. The challenge will also recognise and reward drivers for their efforts through personal improvement and overall achievement.
The Challenge is organised and sponsored by SC Driver Services through the Minibus Road safety Challenge and the Minibus Website.
The challenge is for all minibus drivers whether your a volunteer- car licence holder or a fully licenced professional. It's not just about what you already know, but also about what you can learn and improve on, as recognition will also be given to drivers who make significant improvements on their passenger and road safety knowledge.
A challenge to influence drivers and reassure passengers
Another objective of the challenge is to influence other drivers through competitive spirit to raise and maintain the standards of minibus road safety all round. The result will not only contribute towards a more safer and enjoyable journey for passengers, but also to help reassure those who have loved ones travelling in the minibus that they are in safer hands.
Everyone deserves the same high level of passenger safety when travelling in a minibus regardless of whether their driver is a volunteer or a professional. However, whilst professionals have to pass rigorous theory and practical tests in addition to 5 days training every 5 years to keep their professional entitlement, volunteers are only legally required to hold a car licence... and nothing more.
Your No 1 priority
Passenger comfort and safety should always be a driver's number 1 priority at all times. To help ensure that a professional standard of comfort and safety is given to our travelling loved ones at all times, all minibus drivers will be asked to rise to the challenge and test their Minibus Knowledge of Passenger Safety.
The Minibus Knowledge of Passenger Safety part of the challenge is based on a multiple-choice question theory test taken by each participating driver at the end of a Minibus Road Safety training session.
The results of the challenge will not only recognise drivers with the highest score but also those who have made the greatest personal improvement compared with a previous test.
Drivers have the option of displaying their results on-line in addition to being awarded with a special personalised name badge when they achieve the minimum standard, proving that they take the safety of your loved ones seriously.
Take the challenge, otherwise lives could be put at risk
You and your loved ones whilst travelling as minibus passengers to hospital, work or school deserve the right to travel with the knowledge and assurance that the driver is going to take the responsibility of their safety seriously.
However, because the law allows almost any driver to drive a minibus, your responsibility is to challenge your driver to either improve and maintain their high standard of knowledge to ensure that passenger safety laws and regulations are being obeyed.
Otherwise, if we say or do nothing, we are all responsible for putting our loved ones lives at risk.
