What excuse are you going to use?
Confusion shouldn't cloud your obligations
Are you confused and concerned about the various minibus assessment schemes each explaining their own driving skill standards which you or your drivers should reach?
Then ask yourself this – If I need to maintain the same duty of care and driving standards as a professional bus or coach driver, then shouldn’t I adopt the same professional standard?
The answer is simple...
The DSA (Driving Standards Agency) an executive agency for the Government’s department for transport have already set a standard for minibus drivers. This professional standard has to be reached in order to pass the official minibus driving test. Therefore, if your organisation is looking to satisfy Health & Safety and MORR (Managing occupational road risk) regulations then this is the standard you should be assessed against.
Part 2 of the Minibus Road Safety ‘on- road’ driving assessment is based on a mock driving test and is conducted by a qualified driving instructor specialised in minibus driver training.
The assessment is designed to give your organisation an accurate account of the level of driving skills demonstrated by your drivers. Each assessment comes complete with a full report containing assessment results, necessary areas for improvement and any further training recommendations.
The assessment report will also serve as supporting evidence that you are actively maintaining your duty of care obligations and provide an audit trail, if investigated by the Police, VOSA or the Health & Safety Executive.
