A new professional approach to Minibus Road Safety
In the light of recent legislation, customer and industry concern SC Driver Services has decided to dedicate efforts towards a new professional approach to minibus road safety.
This new approach will concentrate on helping organisations develop and maintain their own minibus road safety policies, educate drivers of the responsibilities of passenger safety and help them maintain a professional level of driving skills.
The new scheme was also created to recognise and reward minibus drivers for their efforts, attitude, knowledge and driving skills within an industry that often left drivers and operators confused over complicated laws and greater responsibilities.
Future developments will also include support for organisations that operate minibuses with enhanced information and services.
In order to sustain a high level of professional approach to training, support, legislation and concerns SC Driver Services has decided that it can no longer sustain or support MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme). Therefore from the 31st July 2009 SC Driver Services will cease to offer, support or promote MiDAS training or issue certificates to drivers.
In its stead SC Driver Services will offer more appropriate training to support the high standards required by a road safety policy. Training will include up to date information, developments and driving assessments conducted by professionally qualified driving instructors specialising in minibus training to DSA test standard.
This decision has been taken not only to reflect the responsibility and high standards which organisations and minibus drivers need to achieve, but more importantly these high standards in minibus road safety saves lives.
Please support the Minibus Road Safety Challenge and don’t put our loved ones lives at risk.
