The 2 second safety gap rule...
is it enough for a minibus?

Section 105 of the Highway Code advises to "leave enough space between you and the vehicle in front so that you can pull up safely if it suddenly slows or stops... by allowing at least a two second gap". However, the code also states that "large vehicles and motorcycles need a greater distance to stop".

Unfortunately the Highway Code only presents stopping distances for cars and not minibuses. Through a recent discovery at SC Driver Services.... Information about Minibus stopping distances have now been revealed. Be warned!!! ... If you use the "2 second rule" as a minimum whilst driving a minibus, you and your passengers may be placed at a very high risk.

Find out more by coming along to one of our Minibus Road Safety training, it may save your passengers lives and you from being blamed for a serious accident.
